Fun with the Parachute

Yay! It's a shark attack! In gym with 3B and 4M we started playing with the parachute together. The parachute is red, white and blue and very large! We have to hold on tight when we are playing games and move it up and down.  Sometimes we have to run and switch colours that we are holding to warm up.

One of our favourite games is called Shark Attack. First, everybody needs to sit down with their feet under the parachute. Ms. Marburg picks 4-5 sharks to go under the parachute and some lifeguards to help people. The job of the sharks is to pull in the people who are sitting. The lifeguards try and pull the people going in back out. It's a little like a tug of war. After the sharks are picked, the rest of the kids need to start waving the parachute on the ground so you can't see the sharks.

This is the best game and we hope to play it again sometime!

Check out the videos of us playing below:

How the Human Ear Works

How the Ear Works  by 3B

The sound vibration goes through the pinna then the sound wave travels through the ear canal. After that the sound hits the ear drum and it makes it vibrate. The ear drum is connected to three bones called the hammer, anvil and stirrup that also vibrate and then hit the cochlea. Inside the cochlea are little hairs and liquid. When the hairs vibrate they send a signal to the brain through the auditory nerve.  The brain knows what the signals mean and hears sound.

The first video was when we showed how the ear works by acting it out.   (Link if it doesn't work.)

The second video is us singing a song about parts of the ear. Singing about it helps us remember how the ear works. (Link if it doesn't work.)

Here is a link to a video we watched to help us understand the parts of the human ear:  link

Here is an interactive website we used to look at the pieces of the ear for more information:  link

The Best Things We Can Do In Winter

In Winter, many kids like to build snowmen and they can also learn how to make snowmen. Some winter sports are snowshoeing, hockey and tobogganing. You get to have lots of snowball fights and maybe make a snow fort or igloo.  Some people like shoveling to help their neighbours. You can have fun with your friends by playing and rolling around in the snow or covering people up with snow. You can drink hot chocolate and you can put big, small or medium marshmallows in it. Some people also put milk in their hot cocoa or build little snowmen out of their marshmallows. You can go outside and make lots and lots of snow angels in your front or back yard. It's terrific because snow angels look so pretty! Nolan, Aaron and the Rileys get to hide in the bushes and get information from the other teams. Many people might celebrate Christmas and you get to see fireworks at night. If you want, you can go snowboarding with your family in Canmore. You could ride skidoos with a parent with tubes in the back. One of our favourites thing about winter is dreaming about a warm vacation to Vancouver or other warm places! Winter is the best season  because you can do many fantastic things!
